West Elm has their holiday collection out. And I might be in love.

I bought quail eggs from the farmers market this past Saturday. We've been having so much fun with their tininess! I made a miniature plate of breakfast. (since I have nothing better to do with my time :p)Also they work wonderfully for baking. Just swap out 4 quail eggs for 1 chicken egg!

Forgive my absence. Ezra was sick with something strange, but mild and then we had wonderful house guests this past week. We've had so much fun I forgot to capture it all in pictures. :(
Now that we are back to our regularly scheduled programing, Joel and I watched Chris Rocks documentary Good Hair. As a black woman a lot of this movie rang true. Some of it was a surprise as well. Like how and where human hair comes from. I had no idea that weaves could be such a huge expense. I started getting a perm when I was about 10. And continued to get them until I was 23. I went through a time where I loved wearing my hair in braids. ( my hair braided with fake hair)

There I am. circa 2002 with braid extensions
And here I am Pregnant with my first in 2005. With a regular perm.

I went natural at 23.

I have never been so happy. I love my own hair and for the first time wouldn't change a thing.

This is quickly becoming a favorite breakfast around here. Plain yogurt with walnuts blueberries and syrup. Do you have a favorite mix in for your yogurt?

Here's a list of tasty ideas.

We went to a local flower picking garden last week. it was vast and beautiful. Besides, the dead mice that the farm owners cat had dropped in various rows and walk ways.
We all love being outdoors and my love of flower goes way deep. It was a treat for everyone involved. I picked this bouquet that made me keep saying moulin rouge. I think that actually may have been the name of these sunflowers.
I am super pumped about Anthology Magazine. You know, since the death of all my other favorites: Blueprint, Domino, and Cookie.

I think everyone should go and subscribe to them right now. Lets never have another magazine kick the bucket!

modern playhouse

If this isn't one of the best playhouse designs I've ever seen.
I think this can go on the list of things to make for our children. Perhaps one for each room even?

church BBQ

Our church has an annual Barbeque. Its held at the farm we get our milk at. We have such a blast every year. They serve awesomely delicious local cheese burgers, play games like caber tossing, and cow milking. We also have a talent show, which sounds cheesy, but it usually ends up inspiring Joel and I to put an act together. Maybe next year. Maybe not.

busy

We've been so busy here lately. Every weekend is packed with tons of friends and food, and we have startedschool, and construction on our house!! We are planning to slowly finish our attic space. That way we can one year move the growing brood of children to the second floor.

she picked out her shirt

I made a trip to the nearest target this Monday. To get our new pets, ( which I'll tell you about in a minute). Its an hour and a half away. Yuckers. But, boy are we a happy bunch when we get in there. I always forget the wonderful clothes they have for kids.

So these are the girls. We have spent some time these past three years, planning and planning again, how we could keep some chickens in our backyard. I am an animal lover, but since becoming a mother, children seem enough of a task, to wait on the family dog. But chickens? Chickens make my breakfast.

floor and walls

I love white walls. And the beautiful shade of fushia the flowers are providing in this livingroom.
