comfort

I'm so glad that it is fashionably acceptable to wear maxi dresses.
I live in them. They are very forgiving, they feel like pajamas, and they make me feel like I am living in a Jane Austen story.
Untitled
That makes them and automatic win in my book.

We are just chilling out this weekend. I might attempt some sewing. And if I actually get anything completed, I'll be sure to share them.

Here are some things you might, or might not have fun looking at.

Please tell me you've heard of this. It's what we had for dinner last night.
I can think of a lot of people that would look great in these.
I need every one of these on my couch.
This app is darling.
Foxes are the new owls.

happy weekend. xoxo

locs: simply because it's more fun to spell it this way

I forget to share pictures of myself here. I take a terrible self portrait really, and after so many bad pictures a girl kinda gives up. I've got to try a little harder because I'd like to keep track of my locs, if nothing else. It has been four years this month since I put locs in my hair. And I think I've just come into a comfort zone. You know, what products I like to use, and a beauty regime.
I am always inspired by this channel. Her styles are always fun. Even though I've only tried a hand-full. It's become easy, and breezy. :) Which is perfect because, gosh I don't have a ton of time to pamper myself these days. Three kids will do that I guess.

p.s. Check out this give away!

Ballet!

She' loved her first class. But then again, pink, twirly skirts and dancing are among her top ten anyway. It seem like it will be a true staple.

on socks and stuff

Because my research, has led me to this pattern, and one that was very graciously shared with me from my local yarn shop. I'm going to try to borrow that book from the library, just because it looked like the best resource, a sock knitter could ever have need for. I bought this yarn. But I am planning to make my way back to buy some more in a different colorway. Yay for his and her socks! I know I am way ahead of myself. I'm not even done with this. But look I am ready to make the

this week's menu

1. Enchiladas
2. Meatloaf and mashed potatoes
3. Chicken souvlaki (I serve it with garlic rice)
4. Tomato soup with grilled cheese
5. chicken marsala
6. Salmon and noodle stir fry

Joel and I started watching Bizarre foods. I don't recommend watching this unless you have a gut of steel. We are watching it because it's super interesting. Plus we like to cringe.

p.s. I love granola.

cause I really like clogs, and these are grey.

Untitled
I don't think this sweater would actually lay nicely over these sleeves, but the dress is so cute, and the sweater is so cute. I couldn't get rid of either. I know you understand.

We are locking someone's hair this weekend.
We're going to a birthday party, And visiting our favorite yarn shop!
But before I really sign off for the weekend, I wanted to share a few more links with you.

I really want to eat this.
What a cute little kitchen. Maybe One day I'll own a smeg.
I want this print.
This might make me more of a Walmart fan.
And last but not least. I think these would be really fun to make.

Have a great weekend!

acryilics at the table

I bought some paint and plaster stuff on sale like a year ago.You know for a rainy day, or a I can't believe it's still January day. And Yesterday fit both bills. So I dug them out of my crafting storage. (which I realize, needs a major overhaul.)
I think these guys were just old enough to do this without completely destroying everything within range. They thoroughly enjoyed themselves. And even though things finished quite muddy, I love them just the same.

progress on the jacket

Yeah, not that much progress. I know. Please don't be so hard on me. I'm really trying.
I am past the point at which the sleeves will be attached and, I am 2 inches down in stockinette, when I need to be 10 and a half. But I'm still motivated! I'll update you again. I really wanted to talk about my next potential project.

Socks.

I've done baby booties, but what I am referring to here, is a pair of sock that will please a full grown adult. Either Joel or I will do. I am still on the hunt for some beautiful yarns. Something
like this, or this even. Theses hand painted ones are so beautiful!

claudia hand painted sock yarns
I know socks don't last forever, but I'll be using something like a size 1 needle. Do you know how small those are? They are very small. Small enough, that after all the knitting is done, and my fingers stop bleeding, I want the finished product to dazzle me.
So I need do some real good research. Has anyone done socks before? Ali? Do you have a favorite pattern? I would gladly accept any help at all. :)

this week's menu

So here it is,

1. Pulled pork sandwiches red cabbage Cole slaw
2. Chicken Cesar salad
3. Smokey fish chowder
4. T-bone steaks, rosemary oven fries, and blue cheese salad
5. Black bean burrito supreme ( it means too much cheese baked on top right?)
6. Chicken and rice soup. My kids ask for it daily so I need to make it at least weekly.

Some of this planning goes straight out the window. For a number of reasons really, sometimes I don't feel like cooking them, and sometimes we eat leftovers, and then I've got food stash for the next week. But, making up a plan ahead of time takes a load of stress of my already piecey brain you know?

Did I ever tell you think guys like to eat? Like all day long? He demands food every time he thinks I might be thinking, about thinking of going into the kitchen. He should be bigger.

Second Breakfast

contamination

So today I tried to throw a birthday party, for Phoebe. It was going wonderfully until the second cupcake in. She started to tell me her "tummy hurt". Hm, you should probably stop eating cupcakes I said. But them, she started to look sleepy. Which mean she actually doesn't feel good.
I have a terrible track record with hosting, and one of my kids getting sick.

I start to panic internally. You know, try to figure out if I should sit her in the bathroom while I continue to host, or take her in her room and lay in her bed with her till she falls asleep. From which nap she would wake up completely healthy from. Instead I held her in my arms until the party ended, everything was cleaned up, and she got sick. :(

All you local friends are never going to want to come over again.
I hope no one else gets it.
And, I apologize a head of time if you do.

Also to add to the terribleness, I forgot to mention my baby turned one in November.

I know, I'm the worst.

leather florets

Untitled
I'll never get bored of stripes. Or leather, or flowers. And yes, those are jeggings. You know they are comfortable.

We are going to hear some live music at our local coffee shop tonight, and Phoebe is having a tiny little birthday party tomorrow morning. Other than that we will be relaxing at home. Trying out our new blue-ray DVD player and TV combo. (yes, we are so very cool) What do you have planned for the weekend?

for a partially snowy day

We have a first dental appointments today. But luckily we are excited about it. And hopefully when we get back, we will still feel the same way about his establishment.

We got a bunch of rain last night, that is washing away the snow mess. This is good because a new down fall is on it's way. But we still like the snow. Which is important, because we'll probably have it until April. Serious.

Also one day I need to go here.

This is kind of long, but I think you'll like it.

my baby dances in the mess

We made it around to taking a tree down and the pine needles proved to be almost as fun as Christmas itself. Doesn't everyone have this many pine needles to clean up after Christmas? It's not just me right?

I know, but I can't helping thinking about what I'd like to be wearing come spring. When I can walk around my beautiful town with my kidlets in the stroller.

ballet class

We signed Phoebe up for Ballet classes and I couldn't be more excited. Well she is excited too of course. And that makes it even more fun. Makes me want to take lessons again too. Or maybe I'll just do this? It would be nice to look like that no?

Our Christmas morning. Yes we are still celebrating Christmas. We keep our decorations up, and continue the joyousness for the full 12 days. Why? Because, 1 day is not long enough. And its just way to much fun.

work in progress

I found this cute pattern for a girls hooded jacket that I would love to see on Phoebe this fall. I have yet to ever complete a sweater. It would be nice if this were the first. I'm almost done with the cabled section and I'm still motivated! Wish me luck.

Monday, January 03, 2011
