sea wees

Does anyone remember these? They were one of my favorites. And this little gal is all that remains of my little childhood collection. Doesn't she have a strong resemblance to my current real live sea wee?

new shoes

These are from the gap. I had one of those lovely $10 reward cards sent to me in the mail.
I went in there and bought Joel lots of socks. He loves them. And so do I. I was really looking for some new phenomenal pieces to add to my wardrobe but found none. Only these shoes stood out.
Then I realized, how comfortable they were compared with any given pair of shoes I had at home and decided it was a good idea. I saw these cute cute cuties in target.

They might really like to belong to me as well.

flats and veggies

Sorry for almost a week of no posts. For those of you who read here. We've been to lots of doctors. Between the four of us, well visits alone can take up a week. But, today was Sam's first swim lesson! I have a good friend who is a professional instructor. She offered to teach Sam and his little buddy from church. So of course I had to say yes.
I was all excited when I got up this morning only to find a flat tire on the van. I'm sure Mavis tire moved as quickly as they could, but it wasn't fast enough. We had to reschedule for next week. Bummer.

We are listening to and heartily enjoying the newish type Coldplay CD.
We hesitated to purchase and listen to it because we were feeling eehh, about the first single. The rest of the tracks are pretty nice though.

On to some better news, We have visible vegetables growing in the garden! Zucchinis and tomatoes! I can almost taste them now.

breakfast is becoming addictive

You know if what I said about the swedish oatmeal pancakes being the best thing on my breakfast plate in years was true, I had to make them on my own. Well, after some research, and several batches, this is the closet I've gotten. I found the recipe online and used it as a starting point. The pancakes it made were way to wet and sloppy. I changed the flour and milk quantities and came up with a denser, chewyier cake. (sooo not a word) But thats what we were looking for. So good.

swedish oatmeal pancakes

2 cups of oats
1/2 cup flour (i used 3/4 c, white whole wheat)
3 tablespoons sugar
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
2 1/2 cups buttermilk ( I use 2 cups)
2 large eggs
1/4 cup melted butter
1 teaspoon vanilla
butter for skillet( I use a teflon pan and didn't need any extra butter at all)

Mix dry ingredients in one bowl, and the dry in another. Combine. Batter is going to be lumpy. The original recipe said to let it sit refrigerated for at least 2 hours. And over night is a- okay.
I think 30 minutes is enough and overnight produces mush. But, experiment if you will. Its part of the fun I think.

Hope your weekends are wonderfilled.

A-B-C

Sam can correctly identify all 26 letters in the alphabet. He also knows the sounds they all make.
I am very proud of him. This may not be phenomenal for a 27 month old, but we are feeling accomplished at the moment.

Techno-logic

Our point and shoot camera broke recently. We have one of these so it wouldn't be that big a deal except it was our primary video camera for the kitties. After a little bit of research we got one of these. So far, so exciting. I might need to start posting video on here. :)

I'm going to keep this as short as possibly because I am supposed to be cutting out childrens garments, but I had to share I have a new nephew born this morning! Liam Titus. I don't have specific stats yet but mom and baby are both doing spiffilly. ( I know its not word but I like it anyway) Praise the Lord.

Edit: My new nephew William Titus, I repeat William, (not Liam) Titus. Silly Auntie.

weddings and swedish oatmeal pancakes

Went drove to PA this weekend to visit loved ones and to see some loved ones get married.
It was a beautiful affair. Complete with dining, toasting, and, dancing. Reformed folk sure know how to party. I have a hard time getting pictures lately. And I'm not sure what to blame it on. We didn't get a single picture of the wedding. Ceremony or reception. All I have to offer are pictures of our awesome brunch at Wish You Were Here in downtown lancaster after Sundays worship service. My dad graciously treated us all to the best breakfast I've had in years. Seriously, this place was so good it reformed my view on breakfast. Particularly pancakes.

We love Lancaster city as shown to us by some other loved saints.
