Its been too long since I made a proper post. So here it is. Complete with an outdated Easter photo I haven't shared.
1.Spaghetti with quick italian sausage meatballs
2.Bacon burgers on brioche buns
3.Chicken salad with almonds
4.Ground lamb souvlaki
5.Caramelized onion, ham, and Gruyere pizza
6.Rachel Khoo's lavender chicken
This past week end our town had its annual art walk. So much fun. Joel had prints up in two different venues. And of course they were beautiful.
It was such a treat to be downtown as a pedestrian again. Something I haven't done very much, since adding a fourth to our brood. Note to self,.. must do again.

introducing
Solomon Alexander Penney
He came into this world on September 7, 2011. Weighing 6lbs 9oz and stretching a full 19 3/4 "
We couldn't be more excited that he has joined our little brood, and can't imagine him anywhere else.

I didn't mean to not post last week. We had some really nice weather,
we baked banana bread with chocolate chips and walnuts,
and threw a lot of fits.
It was enough to keep us busy.

this weeks menu
Last weeks tomato soup and grilled chicken Caesar salad. I made it from scratch, which might always be easier than loading and unloading kids into the car going to the store. I used this recipe and I think its the first time my homemade tomato soup didn't just taste like spaghetti sauce. You know?
Anyhow, yesterday was the most beautiful day we've experienced this year. And my children have disowned the indoors. Which meant they slept very late this morning, and my house should be clean. (It' not) But I'm always trying. Does that count for something?
1.bbq meatloaf and mashed potatoes
2. roast veggie salad bread and cheese
3. chicken marsala
4. chicken noodle soup
5.pizza
6. paella

We the Penney's have been battling little sicknesses over here. Two days good, then two more bad, but we are finally getting sleep again now that the night time coughs have begun to disappear. I hope that this is the end of winter sickness now that spring has finally sprung. I'm ready to get outside for some sunshine and picnicing!
I'm also hunting for kids warm weather clothing. Specifically shoes. I'm not a huge lover of crocs, but I think my kids have ended up with the target knock-offs every year since birth. What shoes do you guys love and always go back to for your bambinos? I'm even tempted to get these for myself. What do you think?

reality strikes
We are getting tons of snow. And it's only 10 degrees right now. So this is an extremely practical outfit. Including the sunglasses, so I don't go blind.
I'd like to go sledding with the kids again, but 10 degrees is really cold. We might just watch movies and drink hot cocoa instead.
I actually like this weather, but I feel so bad for my chickens. :( I know they are covered in down, but I still want to bring them inside and wrap them in blankets.
Here are some links. Hope you like them.
Anything with a name like this deserves a try right?
Love these little pieces.
Does anyone like donuts? Have a look at these.
I'm planning to try this binky out this time around.
We are going on a date tonight! To a wonderful gourmet friend owned french restaurant.
Um yes, I'll be making this tomorrow.
Happy weekend!
p.s. I really want to knit that hat.

a cape
For these rainy days. I'll convince myself it's a segway into spring. And it will make me smile till may.
Here are a few fun things I liked this week.
The minimalist chooses his 25 favorites.
Amaretto hot chocolate? I know yes.
H& M sells home goods! But unfortunately only over seas. So we just get to look.
Have a good weekend!

on socks and stuff
Because my research, has led me to this pattern, and one that was very graciously shared with me from my local yarn shop. I'm going to try to borrow that book from the library, just because it looked like the best resource, a sock knitter could ever have need for. I bought this yarn. But I am planning to make my way back to buy some more in a different colorway. Yay for his and her socks! I know I am way ahead of myself. I'm not even done with this. But look I am ready to make the

they finally did it
I am a moccasin girl. I have been for a very long time. Being part native (a very small part) made it seem natural. But, really I just think they are awesome. And so versatile! I bought my first authentic pair about 13 years ago at a pow wow in my home town. They are hand made by ya tribe whose name I forget, but they have been wonderful. They had to downfalls though. I cannot wear them year round because they are soft soled, and not warm enough in the winter. I've been holding out on getting myself another pair. Because I don't like the hard plastic soles you used to get on some pairs, and still, just one layer of leather is no where close to getting me through an Idaho winter. Then, J.Crew decided to sell these.

Yes, they have a rubber sole. Yes they are lined with shearling. And, yes they are on my Christmas list. Because I would wear them. Everyday. Like this.
