It's beautiful around here.

Because the farmers market starts next week

Untitled

A girl's got to be ready.
But there is something I should tell you, it still barely gets above 50 around here. So Even thought I"ll be there, I surely won't be wearing this. I can dream can't I?

We the Penney's have been battling little sicknesses over here. Two days good, then two more bad, but we are finally getting sleep again now that the night time coughs have begun to disappear. I hope that this is the end of winter sickness now that spring has finally sprung. I'm ready to get outside for some sunshine and picnicing!
I'm also hunting for kids warm weather clothing. Specifically shoes.  I'm not a huge lover of crocs, but I think my kids have ended up with the target knock-offs every year since birth. What shoes do you guys love and always go back to for your bambinos? I'm even tempted to get these for myself. What do you think?

I am a new 28 year old

Untitled
Yesterday was my birthday. We celebrated last weekends for our date, but for the actual night , Joel and I walked downtown to pick up fine cheese and wine. :) We had a wonderful anti pasta type in house date. My favorite really.

We are going bowling tomorrow as per Sam's request. An I need to get cracking on the transformer cake! Any suggestions? Also the weather is supposed to stay over 40 until Sunday! Yay!

Here are some things I liked this week.
I need to make these!!
Do you think I could make this bag? I really want to.
A visualization of the value of a dollar.
Love this ring.

What are you up to this weekend?

reality strikes

Untitled

We are getting tons of snow. And it's only 10 degrees right now. So this is an extremely practical outfit. Including the sunglasses, so I don't go blind.
I'd like to go sledding with the kids again, but 10 degrees is really cold. We might just watch movies and drink hot cocoa instead.
I actually like this weather, but I feel so bad for my chickens. :( I know they are covered in down, but I still want to bring them inside and wrap them in blankets.

Here are some links. Hope you like them.

Anything with a name like this deserves a try right?
Love these little pieces.
Does anyone like donuts? Have a look at these.
I'm planning to try this binky out this time around.
We are going on a date tonight! To a wonderful gourmet friend owned french restaurant.
Um yes, I'll be making this tomorrow.

Happy weekend!

p.s. I really want to knit that hat.

for a snowy Friday

I always feel so wonderfully regal wearing a maxi dress. No matter how much laundry I'm doing.

Happy weekend!

Have a good weekend!!

a cape

Untitled
For these rainy days. I'll convince myself it's a segway into spring. And it will make me smile till may.

Here are a few fun things I liked this week.

The minimalist chooses his 25 favorites.
Amaretto hot chocolate? I know yes.
H& M sells home goods! But unfortunately only over seas. So we just get to look.

Have a good weekend!

my baby in the window

He's playing with school paraphernalia. And being the regular rascal that he is.

We are planning to lay low inside. We like to walk around town when we can, but its gotten cold outside again. After a slight rise in temperature these past few weeks, 20 degrees feels really cold again. It is really cold I guess. Cold enough to freeze the chickens eggs before we collect them. :/ Hoping it warms up again soon.

the jacket's end?

I really should have some better progress to show you. But I am finding it impossible to pick up 60 stitches for the hood. I mean, I am only getting 40. 40!!!

That is 20 missing stitches. I must be doing something terribly wrong. Because that is just ridiculous.
I'm going to search you-tube for its wisdom. If that fails me I'll be heading downtown to seek help at the local shop.

The frustration compels me to put down the needles. In search of another project. But,I really want to finish this. So I'm going to keep trying.

I don't know if you can really tell in these pictures, but we finally got a hair cutter.

comfort

I'm so glad that it is fashionably acceptable to wear maxi dresses.
I live in them. They are very forgiving, they feel like pajamas, and they make me feel like I am living in a Jane Austen story.
Untitled
That makes them and automatic win in my book.

We are just chilling out this weekend. I might attempt some sewing. And if I actually get anything completed, I'll be sure to share them.

Here are some things you might, or might not have fun looking at.

Please tell me you've heard of this. It's what we had for dinner last night.
I can think of a lot of people that would look great in these.
I need every one of these on my couch.
This app is darling.
Foxes are the new owls.

happy weekend. xoxo

on socks and stuff

Because my research, has led me to this pattern, and one that was very graciously shared with me from my local yarn shop. I'm going to try to borrow that book from the library, just because it looked like the best resource, a sock knitter could ever have need for. I bought this yarn. But I am planning to make my way back to buy some more in a different colorway. Yay for his and her socks! I know I am way ahead of myself. I'm not even done with this. But look I am ready to make the

cause I really like clogs, and these are grey.

Untitled
I don't think this sweater would actually lay nicely over these sleeves, but the dress is so cute, and the sweater is so cute. I couldn't get rid of either. I know you understand.

We are locking someone's hair this weekend.
We're going to a birthday party, And visiting our favorite yarn shop!
But before I really sign off for the weekend, I wanted to share a few more links with you.

I really want to eat this.
What a cute little kitchen. Maybe One day I'll own a smeg.
I want this print.
This might make me more of a Walmart fan.
And last but not least. I think these would be really fun to make.

Have a great weekend!

progress on the jacket

Yeah, not that much progress. I know. Please don't be so hard on me. I'm really trying.
I am past the point at which the sleeves will be attached and, I am 2 inches down in stockinette, when I need to be 10 and a half. But I'm still motivated! I'll update you again. I really wanted to talk about my next potential project.

Socks.

I've done baby booties, but what I am referring to here, is a pair of sock that will please a full grown adult. Either Joel or I will do. I am still on the hunt for some beautiful yarns. Something
like this, or this even. Theses hand painted ones are so beautiful!

claudia hand painted sock yarns
I know socks don't last forever, but I'll be using something like a size 1 needle. Do you know how small those are? They are very small. Small enough, that after all the knitting is done, and my fingers stop bleeding, I want the finished product to dazzle me.
So I need do some real good research. Has anyone done socks before? Ali? Do you have a favorite pattern? I would gladly accept any help at all. :)

leather florets

Untitled
I'll never get bored of stripes. Or leather, or flowers. And yes, those are jeggings. You know they are comfortable.

We are going to hear some live music at our local coffee shop tonight, and Phoebe is having a tiny little birthday party tomorrow morning. Other than that we will be relaxing at home. Trying out our new blue-ray DVD player and TV combo. (yes, we are so very cool) What do you have planned for the weekend?

work in progress

I found this cute pattern for a girls hooded jacket that I would love to see on Phoebe this fall. I have yet to ever complete a sweater. It would be nice if this were the first. I'm almost done with the cabled section and I'm still motivated! Wish me luck.

they finally did it

I am a moccasin girl. I have been for a very long time. Being part native (a very small part) made it seem natural. But, really I just think they are awesome. And so versatile! I bought my first authentic pair about 13 years ago at a pow wow in my home town. They are hand made by ya tribe whose name I forget, but they have been wonderful. They had to downfalls though. I cannot wear them year round because they are soft soled, and not warm enough in the winter. I've been holding out on getting myself another pair. Because I don't like the hard plastic soles you used to get on some pairs, and still, just one layer of leather is no where close to getting me through an Idaho winter. Then, J.Crew decided to sell these.

Yes, they have a rubber sole. Yes they are lined with shearling. And, yes they are on my Christmas list. Because I would wear them. Everyday. Like this.

babies like to walk outside too

I am shopping shoes for the baby. He is a confident walker of 2'3". And Robeez just don't cut it for the cold ground outside.
I think these, found on little fashion gallery are quite fabulous.

But here is a pretty good looking version from Old navy for half the cost.

I might have to go pick up a pair.

Friday, October 01, 2010

We are going to pick apples and press cider with the kids tomorrow. This is what I'd love to wear.

What are your plan for this weekend?

oh right here are a couple fun links I found this week

One day I'll go to this.

Check out all this wonderful goodness.

Are these the most outrageous shoes you've even see?

she picked out her shirt

I made a trip to the nearest target this Monday. To get our new pets, ( which I'll tell you about in a minute). Its an hour and a half away. Yuckers. But, boy are we a happy bunch when we get in there. I always forget the wonderful clothes they have for kids.

So these are the girls. We have spent some time these past three years, planning and planning again, how we could keep some chickens in our backyard. I am an animal lover, but since becoming a mother, children seem enough of a task, to wait on the family dog. But chickens? Chickens make my breakfast.
