Spicy Red Lentil Dal

Because we really like lentils around here. And it's vegetarian. Which we like. Even though we like meat also. The recipe can be found here. I liked it very much. Even though it smelled stronger than it tasted. I would like to pursue these flavors again.

we plant flowers

Indoors. Because the kids can't wait for spring.

When things get dull.

Me: Sam would you like to have a costume birthday party?
Sam: Yeah, Blaise can be Cain, I can be Able and Phoebe can be Curious George.
Phoebe: No, I can be cake.

My lunch

I love minestrone. And I love it even more when it shares the spotlight with homemade salted french bread. I put zucchini, carrots, spinach, garbanzo and kidney beans in this one. And I think I liked it enough to stick to that plan.

new Jams

The sleeping kind.
I am a old navy person. But lately I haven't been thrilled with the cost of their sleepwear.
Our local fabric store(e.i.Joann) had all the snuggle flannels on sale for $2.50 a yard. So with a yard or less each, I made the kiddies some sleep pants, and added an applique on some old tees. They are thrilled with them. So am I.

Happy Februray!

We've been having such mild weather for northern Idaho. It put a spring in our step and a smile on the faces of everyone we know. I'm making backyard plans of all shapes and sizes. We are all very excited.
