introducing

Solomon Alexander Penney

He came into this world on September 7, 2011. Weighing 6lbs 9oz and stretching a full 19 3/4 "
We couldn't be more excited that he has joined our little brood, and can't imagine him anywhere else.

We made a double batch of this this weekend.
Raw milk maple walnut ice cream, with homemade hot fudge sauce.
My kids don't believe me that its not butter, and I can't stop eating it.
You should come over, I'll make you some.

play dough

We made this dough on Friday morning using this recipe I got from a friend .
I used regular food coloring and essential oils in peppermint, lavender and grapefruit. We are very pleased with their consistency. All except the lavender. I over cooked just a bit, and is an obvious color fail  but no one else seems to mind that it's black.

Play Dough
3c. flour
1 1/2c. salt
2T. cream of tartar
3c. water
3T. oil
food coloring

Mix dry ingredients together in a non-stick pot. Add water, oil and food coloring (to your desired color) to dry mixture and cook over very low heat until dough becomes solid (only a few minutes). Don't over cook or it will become dry and brittle. Remove from heat and knead until smooth. Let cool. I divided the complete mixture into three separate bowls before cooking and  added the color and oils before I cooked them in separate pots.

it's muddy as all get out,

But we are ready for soccer anyway. And so excited about it too. I think this might officially categorize me as a soccer mom. I never thought Id be okay with  it. I'm going to secretly enjoy it. See you on the field.

We the Penney's have been battling little sicknesses over here. Two days good, then two more bad, but we are finally getting sleep again now that the night time coughs have begun to disappear. I hope that this is the end of winter sickness now that spring has finally sprung. I'm ready to get outside for some sunshine and picnicing!
I'm also hunting for kids warm weather clothing. Specifically shoes.  I'm not a huge lover of crocs, but I think my kids have ended up with the target knock-offs every year since birth. What shoes do you guys love and always go back to for your bambinos? I'm even tempted to get these for myself. What do you think?

Happy Birthday buddy

This is what he wanted, and got for the big day. And on the list of things requested are,
waffles for breakfast, quesadillas for lunch and Pad See Ew for dinner. Followed by ice cream cones. He gets to sign up for the local soccer league today, and get sized for his first pair of cleats! We love you Sam!

I like the children

I want to have some of these print in my kids room. Yes their collective room. They love being together. I can't see us separating them boys and girls yet. Phoebe would be too lonely. And the boy would miss her so. It is very cute to see them so stuck on each other. And this is really fun for me. For more than one reason. But one of those reasons being that I love the idea of the gender neutral nursery. Full of things all children love.

Here is the border on the sweater with out the button holes. Even though the button holes are complete. I"m getting so close I can smell it.

some progress

I am a little less excited to show you my wonky hood. I thought I knew who I was, and decided I didn't need to count stitches because "I can totally tell where I need to decrease" I didn't really.
But, it's pretty much completed now, and the next step is to knit a border around the whole sweater.

We had some little Martha Stewart puppet crafts stored away and got to do them. The kids loved this, but never used them again after that day.

We are planning a lazy, sweet, crafty kind of day today. Completed by our favorite spaghetti and meatballs. It will always be romantic my my eyes.

a hood

After 3 weeks time, and picking up, then taking out stitches 20 times, the hood is on. I'm so glad it's on. I am a little bit closer to finishing. Wahay!
I really shouldn't be so excited, the sleeves are yet to come, not to mention button holes. :/
