finished project

Baby showers are a plenty these days. So I've been knitting up some hat and sock sets. They are super wash merino wool. This makes them soft enough to put on a newborn, and light enough to wear on our cold rainy spring days.

bagels

My mom and I got up at 5 am to make theses. So it's a good thing we think they came out pretty good. We used Nigella Lawson's recipe from How to be a Domestic Goddess. I wanted them to be a bit chewier, and less bready. But the poppy seeds hit the spot.

It must be bagel weekend

Happy Weekend!

I hope to get outside and enjoy some warmth and sunshine. I plan on buying some more plants and donuts and out farmers market tomorrow morning. But not before making some homemade bagels with my mom for breakfast. Wish us luck we have to start very early!

new cuz

My sister and her husband welcomed a new little man to their family on May 8th.
I can't get enough of his sweet little head. And now my little Ez looks like a little moose.
Babies are way too much fun.

bikes

They are on my mind now that warm weather has finally arrived. I don't own one. But I'd like too. When I ride, I'd like to be able to tote my babes along with me. Easily. I think this would do the trick. But, this is much more realistic.

You know, with the regular get-up. trailer and seat on back. Sounds just as fun to me. With a pretty penny left over.

he does it everytime

I love watching Jamie. Especially his new series. He has an obsession with food that I can relate too. One day I'd like to cook and travel like him. Until then, I'll collect as many of his cookbooks as I possibly can, and try to up the anni in the kitchen here on South Howard. When I remember, I try to photograph any meal that comes out looking half way decent. But most of the time, I'm so hungry I forget. Not to mention, there are three small children around me who make their presence known throughout meal prep.

Oh, I realized that I like lightly roasted coffee.

adventures in the hills

We spent some time roaming the farm after we got ourselves stuck in some slopey muds.
The kids love the cows here and got to see a new calf. Its mother is blind and very protective.
So we saw it from a distance.

mushroom hunting

We went for a little walk because the sun was out. But because we live in north Idaho, we froze two blocks into our walk. ( It wasn't really freezing, more like 45 degrees. Which by anyone's standard for May, is freezing) We turned around and headed home. Ate warm creamy macaroni and cheese and watched movies in French.
