Classic pot roast

I saw this in my current "cooking at home" and couldn't wait to try it.
I used American red wine, instead of the dry white that it called for. For no other reason than the fact that we had no white. I also lacked thyme, and bay leaves. So silly. I'm sure they would have made it even better. All that to say, everyone loved it.
