I think you're right baby

Sam asked what blacks beans were at the dinner table last night.
I proceeded to tell him, after which he informed us his eyes were, in fact, just that.
Black beans.

I am determined captain

No, I am not Martha Stewart, but one day I'll have a pantry like this.

cream of chicken with brown rice

We've been eating this a lot. For some reason I always have the ingredients on hand and we kids actually eat it. There are very few meals that they eat without much persuasion. You know pizza, spaghetti and meatballs. They love red sauce. We could have been Italian with the amount of tomato sauce I prepare around here. Winding down for a family meal is just better for everyone, if we all like what's being served.

for baby

I would really like to have this for the wee child. Although, I'm not sure how safe setting a baby on the floor to play would be with two possibly smootheringly interested older siblings.

a first

On Sunday afternoon a good friend shared her horse, ( and home) with us. Sam and Phoebe got to go for their first horse back ride. Joel and I even got to go around. We've both been before but this was my first time going while pregnant. I won't admit it was dangerous. It was way to much fun.

We'll call it his class picture

We could almost count Phoebe as a student too, but she really just makes trouble during school time. Anyhow, he was asking me if this counted as a smile, or a smirk. I think its a smirk baby.

Christmas shopping

(a blooper from last years Christmas pictures)
I know, it's a bit early. I have been trying for the past three years to shop early and be done by thanksgiving. In order stay ahead of the rush an enjoy the season a bit more. You know, less stress? It actually helps me out and I like the system. And being that this baby is due right around Thanksgiving,...I would like to relish in new motherhood for the third time knowing everything is shopped for. So I've started little folders on my computer for everyone I plan on getting gifts for. Sort of like an digital Christmas list. This way I can narrow down choices, and get the job done. Within the next 6 weeks. Plenty of time I know. I want everything wrapped and hidden by this time too. Did I mention I want to beat the rush?

organic raw milk

Straight from the farm to our table. This stuff is good. I mean really good. We are spoiled because it is unbelievably easy to get here. Part of the joys of living in the boonies.
These are actually black angus cows. Not the ones who give us milk. It's the same farm that we get our beef from. I couldn't find the milking cows anywhere. There are only two of them and they must have been hiding. I couldn't find them for a picture. By the way, it's 35 degrees at nine in the morning. It is still October. Just thought I'd throw that in there.

good morning

Some mornings are just extra good. They usually involve sweet little elves playing quietly with their toys before coming to get parents for breakfast. It's a good sign. And we welcome it gladly.

sickies

That's what we were this weekend. My poor little man was looking forward to a birthday party all week only to loose his lunch a half hour before party time. We all ended up getting some form of the nasty bug. With me getting it the worst. I think any stomach ailment is amplified by an internal family member who didn't get the memo. So I'm sparing you pictures of our fun. ( No I didn't actually take any pictures.) But on a much better note, Congratulations to these fun ladies and their new baby boys. I'm ready for my turn.

I miss the movies

I want to see this movie. Just like everyone else. I wish it was something I could bring my son to see, but he absorbs too much. He's never been to the theater either. I thinking we should start out with something more like,...this.
It still hasn't come to theaters in our area. Did I mention we live in the boonies?
