car safety

I'm wishing I could face all three of my kids towards the rear after reading this article. And in case it still sounds silly to you, watch the video. We aren't the biggest people you'll ever meet, so my almost 5 year old is still 35 pounds. But tall enough that I'm not quite sure it would even work. But I wish it would. Luckliy, we are not in the car very often. And in our town, when you get to a highway chances are you're the only one on it. Does anyone with a baby over one still have them rear facing?

  1. Still haven't watched the video. However, Ada is 18 months now and still rear facing because she's only 19 lbs. Her legs are starting to get crammed. Evie is not even 30 lbs at almost 4 years old, but she would definitely be too long to rear face.

  2. Yes. The Bud still faces backward at 17 months. Depending on the carseat, I believe proper include has something to do with ensuring that the child's legs aren't hitting the back of the seat. Granted, this also means I can't push/recline my own passenger seat back very far. But that's okay.

Maybe someday we'll have a van. *sigh*
